Oh boy, one of the most contentious subjects in one of the most widely popular anime series of our time. I’m already looking forward to all the angry comments explaining why I’m wrong and did I even watch the secret unreleased Masashi Kishimoto where he disproves everything I said? Still, figured I’d give it the old college try, because that’s my ninja way. I’ll refrain from touching on the Madara, Sasuke, or Sage of the Six Paths and all of their evolutions beyond the Mangekyō Sharingan and stick to the basic Mangekyō Sharingan everyone else without plot armor gets. Now without further ado, the 4 Strongest Mangekyō Sharingan in Naruto.

 

Fugaku Uchiha

Fugaku Uchiha Mangekyo Sharingan

Captain of the Konoha Military Police Force, Head of the Uchiha Clan, contender to replace the Third Hokage. While we don’t know much about Fugaku’s Mangekyō abilities we do know a bit about Fugaku, and he was an incredibly powerful shinobi. Nicknamed Wicked Eye Fugaku during the Third Shinobi War we can accurately deduce that he possessed one of, if not the, strongest sharingans at the time. He would even go on to state that with his Mangekyō Sharingan he could easily control the Nine-Tails.

Itachi Uchiha

The first Mangekyō Sharingan to make an appearance in the anime and also one of the most versatile. His left eye is able to cast Tsukuyomi, an incredibly powerful time-warping genjutsu that’s able to bring down even other Jonin-level sharingan users. With his right eye he wields Amaterasu, an equally dangerous ninjutsu, that conjures up inextinguishable black flames. Itachi’s dōjutsu represents a jack of all trades and master of none scenario, while not the strongest genjutsu or ninjutsu based Mangekyō abilities they make up for it in diversity of use.  

Obito Uchiha

Obito’s Mangekyō Sharingan posses a short-ranged Kamui in his right eye and a long-ranged Kamui in his left. This ninjutsu allows him to control space-time itself. Seriously. It’s overpowered to the point that Kishimoto had to write out Obito’s ability to use it while also being the Ten-Tails jinchuuriki. When focused on himself it allows him to become intangible to enemy attacks or travel over long distances in mere moments. When using long-ranged Kamui the user can transfer incoming jutsu, people, and even tailed beasts into another dimension. It’s hard to imagine a more powerful Mangekyō ability without getting ridiculous, like for example being able to control someone else’s thoughts without them even noticing… 

Shisui Uchiha

Shisui Uchiha Mangekyou Sharingan

Don’t pretend you didn’t see this coming. The Strongest Mangekyō Sharingan is Shisui’s and it’s all thanks to Kotoamatsukami. By far the most powerful genjutsu in the Naruto Universe and you don’t even need to bring together all the tailed-beasts, revive an old Goddess and cast it off the surface of the moon. With Kotoamatsukami Shisui can enter a person’s mind without eye contact and manipulate their experiences to make them do whatever he wants while letting them think they are doing it out of their own free will and with no way of noticing they are being manipulated. As if that wasn’t enough this genjutsu isn’t limited to one person as Shisui was planning on using it on the entire Uchiha Clan, full of other Mangekyō Sharingan users, to stop the coup d’etat.
